First time I used my snow blower in two years

The last time I used my snow blower was Feb/Mar of 2023. I put regular 87 octane gas in it the last time I used it, with ethanol, and no fuel stabilizer. I had planned to either drain it and leave it empty or drain and fill with ethanol-free fuel with stabilizer, but I forgot about it, and it sat all year. Last winter was very mild, and the snow we did get was heavy wet snow that I plowed, rather than using a snow blower. The snow blower is a luxury, not a prepping tool, so it fell low on…

Going Camping Like It’s 1945

I'm planning on going to a WWII-inspired camping retreat for three days pretty soon with a reenacting group I'm friends with. We'll basically be living off the land. I'll be the "camp herbalist" and will be doing a lot of wild harvesting, as well as making lots of soups and teas for the group.

The only problem is, it's January, and it's supposed to be between 30 and 40 degrees out with not much vegetation available. I'll bring some potted sorrel and lots of dried herbs, but I'm thinking…

How useful would amateur radio be in a true SHTF world?

I'm not talking some temporary or localized emergency—such as a hurricane or flood. But in a really bad, perhaps lasting for years, real grid-down situation.

It doesn't matter how it happens: EMP attack, nuclear war, continent-wide natural catastrophe, or simply a massive societal breakdown due to any variety of causes. No cell phone service, no Internet, no commercial radio, no delivery of supplies of any kind,— nothing. Basically back to a medieval existence.

I've had my…

Fairlife milk

I have been drinking Fairlife milk since diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It is a little more expensive but has less sugar and has good reviews.

I am concerned now drinking it as I found something weird . I poured some in a solo cup a and something came up so I put it in the fridge for later. A few hours later I retrieved the cup and it appears the milk dissolved the plastic coating inside the cup. I tested it the chocolate milk and same thing.

Anyone know what is going on? I tested this…

Handgun TIER rankings – Don’t take it too seriously

I snagged this off social media. I don't know if I agree with every ranking, but it's not that far off in my experience.

I feel like Beretta and CZ polymer guns could be in A-tier with their metal guns staying up in S. I would also move KelTec down a half step. Although I still have a loving fondness for my old P11 which was my first semi-auto back up gun, even with a trigger so long you had to start pulling it before you got to the range. I might move Kimber up a half step too. They seem…

General Archery/History Q:..Idea Actually I guess

I was in a deep convo w a bud about the people issue right now..
The topic of the criminal ferals from somewhere else assaulting the NY cops then almost at once being released..one displayed a middle finger..we cussed about it awhile when he, a history nut like me,(but he likes different eras than me) postulated the following…

The original meaning was one of defiance…archers cant draw a bow w/o that finger…they must have that one above all others…captured archers had that finger cut off…
