I finally understand why deflationists believe we can have deflation when the US can print currency at will. While it's true the US owes trillions of US dollars, so does the rest of the world. And they owe those dollars to one another, so it's not like they can just default on us. And they cannot repay those loans with Zimbabwean notes or Australian notes; Must be US dollars. And they keep going back for more loans because the IMF gives favorable rates.
