Transmitter – Antenna – High SWR is not your friend

Reliable communications is as much about your antenna as your radio. Any antenna is resonant on only one frequency. As you move up or down in frequency farther away from your resonant frequency you introduce an increased SWR(antenna mismatch).

Rising SWR=loss in resonated output power with some power being reflected back to your transmitter. Reflected power is dissipated in the form of heat by your transmitters power transistor via a heat sink.
