Recent 4-day power outage-lessons learned: backup power, light at night, landline phone

I live in rural Northeast Nebraska, and just came out of a four-day winter storm. Not a lot of snow, but very "heavy" wet stuff that weighted-down trees and accumulated on power lines. Accompanied by 50-60 mph wind gusts over almost two days. Cold temperatures. I was without power for a full four days. Massive outages all around my area.

Wanted to share my recent experience, because it gave me some good insights on the subjects of preps and opsec.
