First Fusion Power Plant Coming Online Soon?

Did I miss something about fusion actually being tenable? It's perpetually been 20 years in the future. This is big news if it pans out.

The engineering problems are two fold: one is containing the extremely hot plasma field and, two, generating more power than it consumes. But the folks at MIT think they've got it cracked.

The prototype plant, called SPARC, is expected to generate fusion power by 2026 with the main plant, ARC, coming online in the early 2030s generating 400 Mw.

Gerber LMF II Update

As some of you know I recently broke my Gerber LMF II while batoning through some oak in the backcountry. I broke the plastic wrap that sits between the steel and the GFN handle at the hilt of the knife. You owners of it can look there and see the plastic piece I am referring to. In a number of my videos I refer to the Gerber LMF II and how you cannot hit the finger guards while batoning due to the construction of that hilt area. The steel did not fail and remains a fantastic steel. The…

Tariff prep reviews?

A few months ago, there was a lot of talk about stocking up on made-overseas items in anticipation of US tariffs getting instated early in 2025.

So around now, people who placed orders for "might want it later" items are probably receiving them, testing them out, returning anything that turned out to be junk, etc.

What purchases are you glad you made the excuse to pull the trigger on? What's failed to deliver or needed to be returned?

Snubby for hog defense

My job has me spending a lot of time in rural areas on foot. I currently carry a P365 but like the idea of a snubby revolver.

There are hogs around here so I'd like something with enough oomph to deal with them if needed.

I've considered a charter arms in .44 special or .45 colt but I'm not sure I trust them.

I've considered a .357 snub, but I imagine there'd be a lot of flash if I had to shoot early in the morning when I'm out. But maybe I'm overthinking that.

Is there any .38…

How are you staying warm this winter?

Tonight is the first night of the year here in MT that I've needed to start a fire in the house.

I have a little 1500watt electric space heater I've already used downstairs a few nights this year ,but this the first night I've had to turn on the 'main' heat, with nightime temps down to the 40's tonight.

My wood stove is downstairs, in my three story building, on a concrete slab floor so this time of year I usually only have to run a fire every couple days to keep the thermal mass warm. My…
