Fighting inflation

TL/DR: What are you doing to beat inflation? What tricks, deals, etc.?

I've read that half the US population doesn't have $500 in savings for an emergency car repair, dentist visit, whatever.

That makes it VERY hard to get ahead. Inflation is insidious and if you can't take advantage when opportunity presents itself, it's all the harder to deal with. That's why having at least a small emergency fund can help immensely.

My wife does food shopping on Saturdays; often she finds…

S&W Finally Listened

I didn't see this posted anywhere else so here goes. S&W is now offering their Classic line revolvers without the lock. I'm not going to call the lock by the other name because the thought really grosses me out.

So far they are offering a model 36 with skinny barrel, a model 10 with skinny ballel and smooth stocks similar to Victory model stocks and a square butt and last a 4" model 19. And I suspect if sales are good there will be more coming.

Deepseek. First Chinese English language AI arrives.

I'll have to ask it stuff over a few days to see if it's better than our regular LAMA, Gemini, Copilot and ChatGPT…. but from what I have experienced in the last 10 minutes… it seems better.

Blew me away, this one has.

How many understand the value of the junk yard?

Though I've gotten in trouble for it several times through the years, it has been a valuable source of materials others don't value till that material becomes unavailable to them.
Besides metals and wood I value plastics and glass and Bakelite.
Having grown up lower income I was brought up to appreciate what others cast off and its paid off over and over.
Some jobs I've had in the past had a junkyard I salvaged from, for making their equipment run again.
Any one?

Yes,a brick of tea. Very old school to boot.

Image

Both black and green tea are sold in 'brick' form – in 'full' (2.2 pounds) and in a 'Half' brick (about 1 pound). It pays to shop as the price varies by type (Green or Black) and by vendor.

A full brick measures 7.5" x 9.5" x 15/16" inches.

Preparing this tea is 'just like' loose leaf tea. AFTER you have grated about a teaspoon, put in a cup with 8 oz of very…
